Your next island vacation is closer than you think! Bayfield is located in the far north of Wisconsin on the beautiful, sandy south shore of Lake Superior and surrounded by the 22 Apostle Islands.

Driving

If you are coming from the west, Bayfield is a 1 hr. 45 min. (85-mile) scenic drive from Duluth, Minnesota. We recommend taking the Wisconsin Lake Superior Scenic Byway (State Highway 13) along the lakeshore.

Boating

Bayfield marinas have transient boat slips suited for single-day or multi-day visitors.

Airports

Duluth International Airport is just under a two-hour drive away from Bayfield and the Apostle Islands. Car rentals are available directly at the airport. Duluth offers direct flights from Minneapolis and Chicago daily, so you’re only one easy stop away from most any destination. Consider also the daily shuttle buses available between Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport and Duluth International Airport.

Gogebic-Iron County Airport, located in Ironwood, Michigan, is a one-hour drive away from Bayfield and the Apostle Islands. Denver Air connects directly to Chicago O'Hare and Minneapolis Airports. 

JFK Memorial Airport is located in Ashland, Wisconsin, and is approximately a 30-minute drive to Bayfield. The airport can accommodate small jets and charter planes.
