Experience Bayfield and the Apostle Islands

From Apostle Islands kayaking to inspiring art workshops to hiking and camping in beautiful Wisconsin state parks, Bayfield offers a veritable “What’s What” of what to do in Wisconsin.

  • Kayak the Apostle Islands - Whether it’s your first time in a kayak or you consider yourself an experienced kayaker, we recommend these guide services to ensure your trip is enjoyable and safe.

  • Visit the “Fruit Loop” - Nestled in the bluffs of Bayfield are over a dozen apple orchards and berry farms. Taste locally grown blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and of course apples.

  • Hit the Beach - the Bayfield Peninsula has miles of sprawling sand beaches. Some of our favorites on the mainland are Friendly Valley Beach, Little Sand Bay, Cornucopia Beach, Meyer’s Beach.

  • Take a Cruise - Hop on the Apostle Island Cruise boat right in downtown Bayfield and get a narrated tour of the 21 islands and lighthouses. Choose from several different tours.

  • Visit an Art Gallery - Artist from across the nation draw inspiration from the natural beauty of Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands.  Feeling inspired? Check out classes at Silverwaves Jewelry’s *Creator Studio?*  Or visit the Oldest Pottery in Wisconsin, Eckels Pottery and Fine Craft Gallery.

  • Head to Madeline Island - Hop on the Madeline Island Ferry Line and spend the day on Madeline Island. Check out the Madeline Island Museum, Woods Hall Art Gallery, or take a hike at Big Bay State Park.
