It's Berry Time in Bayfield With Apples on The Way!

Bayfield is bursting at the seam with plenty of fresh raspberries, blackberries and blueberries in its many orchards and fruit farms.

You can pick your own berries and taste for yourself how fresh and sweet Bayfield berries truly are. Kids will enjoy picking their own, but make sure they don't eat them all!

And don't forget about Bayfield's apples. It won't be long before apples are available at the orchards as well. Just in time for Bayfield's 44th annual Apple Festival celebration, October 7,8 and 9. Bayfield's orchards boast a variety of apples that are available all throughout the fall months.

Benefiting from the "lake effect," Bayfield enjoys an extended growing season that begins with flowers and berries in June and ends with autumn's apples, pears, blackberries, blueberries and even fall raspberries.

Bayfield's farms also invite visitors to stop by for honey, maple syrup, fresh cut or dried flowers, preserves, and cider plus some feature country stores.

Bayfield's Lighthouse Celebration Sept. 7- 28th.

Listed in National Geographic Traveler, Bayfield's Apostle Islands National Lakeshore has been voted best in the US by the National Geographic's Center for Sustainable Destinations. The center surveyed 300 experts in sustainable tourism, destination quality, and park management. They asked them to evaluate 55 North American park destinations, chosen in part for the importance of their gateways.

The results of the survey indicated that The Apostle Island National Lakeshore is a gem of untouched beauty and environmental sustainability. It ranked second in the overall ratings and first in the United States.

Big Top Celebrating 20th Season Under the Canvas!

Bring your appetite and be prepared for a true feast for the senses as Big Top has plenty of shows lined up for the remainder of the summer season in Bayfield. Bayfield Heritage Tours wins GEMmy Award

Bayfield is proud to announce that Virginia Hirsch, owner of Bayfield Heritage Tours, was recently named recipient of the 2005 GEMmy award presented by the Midwest Travel Writers Association.

"The history and ghost walks done in the early evening with candle lanterns brings real history to life," writes Anne Hattes of Hartland, WI in her letter of nomination. Other MTWA members visiting last year noted the uniqueness of a community the size of Bayfield to have such a professional presentation. Four GEMmys are awarded by MTWA to travel destinations deemed to be true "gems" in the travel experience.
